The difference between getting inspiration and stealing another artist's work is big. If you are getting inspiration from another piece, it means you are looking at their ideas and trying to make something out of them, but at the same time making them your own. If you are stealing a piece of work it usually means you take their complete idea without giving them any credit and claiming it as your own. It is definitely okay to use an idea or piece of their artwork and change it, because that means you are personalizing it. Also, it is always okay to give the original artist credit for their artwork because it shows that you have your own ideas and you do not need other people to be successful.
Two In One
I combined the alive and dead tree because although it's hard to see the gradual change from summer to winter, the trees change a lot. The mediums I chose were water color and pen. I chose these two mediums because water color has very vibrant colors, and the sharpie pen shows up really well when drawn over water color. In my opinion I don't love water colors because sometimes they are hard to mix and get the colors you want, but I chose it anyway so it would match the idea that I had in my head. If I were to change one thing about my piece I would have planned out how I was going to go about the dead side of the tree. The thicker branches weren't what I had in mind. If I had known what exactly I was going to draw I wouldn't have messed up. Other than that, I think the most successful thing about my piece is the overall look that it has. I really like how the contrast of each side is attention grabbing and how the different colors make it pop.
